Privacy by design.
This page explains the data the service is designed to collect and how it is separated between private evidence and public incident information.
What we collect
When you submit a report, the service may process the incident category, your description, precise GPS coordinates, device/security signals and any photo or video you choose to upload. When you subscribe to alerts, we process your postcode, selected radius and the email address or mobile number you provide.
What the public sees
Precise reporter coordinates, subscriber contact details and original evidence are not public. Public incident points are deliberately coarsened and contain limited incident metadata. User-written allegations and raw evidence are kept out of the public map by default.
Photos and video
Uploads are treated as private evidence for moderation and verification. The service is designed to support redaction of faces and vehicle registration plates before any visual material is made public. It does not use facial recognition or infer ethnicity, nationality or immigration status from an image.
Safety and abuse prevention
We use technical signals to limit spam, repeated alerts and malicious submissions. Reports can be rejected or removed. One-tap alerts are location-matched only against people who have actively subscribed and verified their contact method.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights over personal data relating to you, including access, correction, erasure or restriction. We may need enough information to locate the relevant record and verify the request.
Retention
Data should be kept only as long as needed for moderation, safety, legal or evidential purposes. Production retention periods will be documented and enforced before large-scale rollout.
